Discover Scotland's (liquid) gold trail! Discover Scotland's (liquid) gold trail! - Second Image
Inverness-based mountain bike holiday company Highlands and Islands Adventures have come up with a fantastic holiday that combines world-class mountain biking in the Scottish Highlands with the chance to visit the Speyside distilleries and sample their world-renowned whiskies. The mountains and glens of Speyside provide the pure, clean water required to produce Scotland's most important and revered export: whisky. They also quietly conceal some amazing trails that make up a network of pure mountain biking gold. These same routes that we now enjoy on our aluminium and titanium steeds were once used by smugglers to take the liquid gold south of the border, contravening the strict customs and excise laws of the 18th century. Highlands and Islands Adventures have organised the holiday to coincide with the Spirit of Speyside Whisky Festival from 26 April to 3 May 2010, and you'll have the opportunity to tour five different distilleries, sampling their finest malts along the way. You'll spend the morning exploring the delights of the local trails around the Cairngorms, then finish off the day with a dram or two in the afternoon. With transport provided by the expert services of Go-Where adventure transport, this Highland mountain biking holiday is a winning blend. Slàinte! Holiday highlights: - Six half-days mountain biking - See how whisky is made and savour the taste and individuality of different whiskies at five different distilleries - All breakfasts and lunches provided - Seven nights self-catering accommodation - Services of a fully qualified and experienced mountain bike guide - All transport for the duration of your holiday Other events taking place during the Whisky Festival include: - Vintage car show and rally - Strathspey music festival Dates of holiday 26th April – 3rd May 2010 Price £725 per person Contact For more information contact Euan Wilson [email protected] 0779 683 3142
